| Hall of Fame Award Guidelines |
| 1. The Hall of Fame award committee shall be composed of the president, |
| the V.P., and past Hall of Fame award recipients. The president will |
| act as a committee chairman. Names of the individuals shall not be made |
| known outside the committee or board. |
| 2. The Hall of Fame Award Committee shall present the name of the individ- |
| ual to the board at the fall meeting. The board will make the final decision |
| after hearing the recommendation of the committee. The name of the indi- |
| vidual selected shall be announced at the time the award is made at the |
| annual convention. |
| 3. The award may or may not be made annually and it shall be called the |
| "Iowa Nurserymen's Hall of Fame Award". |
| 4. The award shall be an engraved plaque presented by the INLA president at |
| the annual banquet along with an honorary lifetime membership in the INLA. |
| 5. Individuals considered should have done an outstanding job in one or more |
| of the following areas: |
| a. The recipient should have been a long time Active Member or former |
| Active Member of the Association who has participated faithfully in the |
| affairs of the organization. |
| b. The recipient should be an outstanding individual, demonstrating good |
| qualities and character to be admired by his colleagues. |
| c. The recipient's life shall have had a constructive influence on his or her |
| home, community, country and profession. |
| d. The receipient should have shown great pride and professionalism in the |
| nursery community by sharing time, talent and experience with other |
| association members. |
| e. The recipient should have served as a board member, officer, or have |
| displayed great diligence in the promotion of the INLA. |
| f. The recipient should have been engaged in ways of promoting the associa- |
| tion outside the state of Iowa. Examples: Membership in the ANLA, |
| attending other state conventions or serving on boards or organizations |
| promoting the nursery industry. |
| Merit Award Guidelines | |
| 1. The Merit Award Committee shall be composed of the president, V.P., | |
| executive director and one additional member appointed by the president. | |
| The president will act as committee chairman. Names of award recipients | |
| shall not be made known outside the committee or board. | |
| 2. The Merit Award Committee shall present the name of the individual to the | |
| board at the fall board meeting. The board will make final decision after | |
| hearing the recommendation of the committee. The name of the individual | |
| selected shall be announced at the time the award is made at the annual | |
| convention. | |
| 3. The award may or may not be made annually and it shall be called the | |
| "Iowa Nurserymen's Merit Award". A specially prepared plaque shall | |
| constitute the award. | |
| 4. Individuals considered for this award must fall in a category other than an | |
| Active Member or former Active Member of the INLA. The categories for | |
| recipients must be: | |
| a. Staff members of Iowa State University or Iowa Area Colleges connected | |
| with Horticulture or Landscape Architecture. | |
| b. Associate Member or former Associate Member of the INLA. | |
| c. Any person connected with the staff of the Secretary of Agriculture, | |
| Horticulture, State Entomologist, Conservation Commission or Iowa | |
| Arboretum,Inc. | |
| 5. Individuals considered should have done an outstanding job in one or more | |
| of the following: | |
| a. A long time member of the Association who has participated actively in | |
| the affairs of the organization. | |
| b. An individual who has actively promoted the Association and its aims. | |
| c. An individual who has given freely of his time in helping fellow nursery- | |
| men with their problems. | |
| d. An individual who has done an outstanding job in developing new plant | |
| material or other items to further the nursery industry. |
