The Iowa Nursery and Landscape Association offers two different scholarships to students majoring in the Nursery and Landscaping fields who are going to attend school in the state of Iowa.
Haber Scholarship

For: Undergraduates in Horticulture at Iowa State University
Value: $2,000
Qualifications:
High character, financial need, leadership, and scholarship. For a student who has graduated from an
Iowa high school and who is majoring in Horticulture, with options in Nursery Management or
Landscape Design Installation and Management; or planning to further a career in the landscape
nursery business. A student must have completed two semesters of work. The Iowa Nursery and
Landscape Association scholarship committee and the ISU Department of Horticulture will make the
selection.
Note: According to the discussion between members of the Association and the University, the following
criteria have been established:
· Any student who has completed at least two semesters of work in the Department of
Horticulture and who is majoring in Nursery Management or planning to further a career in
the landscape nursery business, can be considered a candidate for the scholarship.
· Any student that will graduate in December of 2009 will be ineligible.
· Any student that has received a previous INLA scholarship will be ineligible.
· The Department of Horticulture will screen candidates and prepare necessary background
information.
· The INLA Scholarship Committee shall meet at a specified time in the fall of the year to
interview candidates. The final selection will be made by the INLA Scholarship Committee.
· The person selected will be notified and asked to appear at the INLA Convention and Trade
Show held February 24-26, 2010 in Ames, Iowa. One payment of $2,000 will be made to the
student at the convention.

Community College Scholarship

For: Full time student enrolled in the horticulture program at any of Iowa’s Community Colleges.
Value: Two $500 annual scholarships are awarded to students at two separate Community Colleges.
Guidelines: This scholarship is awarded on the basis of high character, leadership, and excellence in studies. The
scholarship is awarded to a full time student enrolled in the horticulture program at an Iowa community
college. The student should be actively seeking employment in the nursery industry after graduation.
Applicants must be permanent residents of Iowa and must have successfully completed one quarter of
studies. Application forms will be available from the Executive Director of the Iowa Nursery and
Landscape Association or the Horticulture Department of qualifying schools. Students must provide transcripts.
Criteria & Procedures:
The scholarship committee is composed of the officers of the Iowa Nursery and Landscape
Association.
A student may be considered as a candidate for this scholarship only after the application form has been
completed and the scholarship requirements have been met. Applicants may be required to meet with
the scholarship committee for a personal interview.
All students that graduate in December of 2009 will be ineligible.
Any student that has received a previous scholarship from the Iowa Nursery and Landscape Association
will be ineligible.
The student selected for each scholarship will be notified and asked to appear at the INLA Conference
and Trade Show. The INLA conference and Trade Show has partnered with ISU’s Shade Tree Short
Course; the event will be held February 24-26, 2010 in Ames, Iowa. The $500 scholarship will be
awarded to recipients at the beginning of the Spring school semester.
